Shopping

In terms of shopping, you’ll want to head to One New Change, just down the road at Moorgate. It’s got student faves like H&M and student dining staples like Nando’s, but also some slightly posher stuff like All Saints for when you want to treat yourself. Shoreditch also isn’t too far away at all, and you ought to visit BoxPark; a series of edgy pop-up shops in giant boxes specialising in fashion and accessories.

Liberty Plaza sits in the heart of London’s East End with its cosmopolitan vibe. The residence straddles both quirky, edgy areas like Shoreditch, Hoxton, Whitechapel and Islington, and yet is also only minutes from the hustle and bustle of the City of London and the corporate world.

Local Attractions

The Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe are just over a thirty minute walk away or short tube journey. You’ve also got absolutely iconic places like London Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral, The Gherkin, The Shard and The Tower of London within 30 minutes’ walk in each direction. You can even do a Jack The Ripper walking tour, as the area is where he was on the prowl all those years ago.

Finally, if you just fancy staying in, there’s a brilliant common room, music studios, a gym and great facilities throughout Liberty Plaza to keep you entertained.

Also, there are loads of bars, pubs and nightlife on your doorstep when you stay at Liberty Plaza. This diverse area of East London has plenty of restaurants and pubs, with some student favourites just on your doorstep. There are some great places around the area, thanks in part to the fact that the residence is at the hub of commercial activity in London. Finally, if you feel like a short walk, nearby Spitalfields has loads of awesome places to try, including the quirky The Breakfast Club.
The Tower of London and the River Thames are a short walk away with lots of additional restaurants and bars to visit.

Local supermarkets are all on hand from Sainsbury’s right next door to Waitrose and Marks and Spencer within easy reach.

The City of London is located close by and offers a variety of banks and a large Post Office. You can wander round the amazing contemporary buildings with the buzz of the city and really feel you have arrived in London.

Transport

Central London is only a short train ride away, but before you even have to venture down there, you should give some of the up-and-coming local areas a try. Hoxton and Shoreditch are both close by and are fun, vibrant areas, with lots of nightlife, bars and even art galleries. The area of Islington is also only up the road at just 15 minutes on the bus, and there’s loads to do, including places to eat and drink. You’ll also range of music venues throughout these areas, including The Old Blue Last, The O2 Academy, The Garage and plenty more. If you want clubs, the famous nightclub Fabric is only a short bus ride away or a half an hour walk.  At Leman Street, you’re just minutes from several tube stations, including Aldgate East (4 minutes walk away), Tower Hill (10 minutes away on foot) – both on the District and Circle Line with Aldgate East also offering the Hammersmith & City line – and even Liverpool Street which can take you even further afield, just a 20 minute walk away. King’s Cross St Pancras can be reached quickly and offers a quick trip to loads of places around the UK and even Europe on the Eurostar.

Are bills included?

That’s water, electricity and gas – nice and easy to help with your budgeting!

Is TV and internet provided?

You get high speed broadband and Wi-Fi which you can upgrade to super speed if needed. You also get 4TV as standard; just make sure you get a TV Licence!

Is personal contents insurance included?

We hope you won’t need it but it’s nice to know that you have insurance as backup for your peace of mind. Follow the link to download your Certificate of Insurance.

Is there a gym?

Keeping fit is easy thanks to our on-site gym – free to use whenever you like. Feel the burn, without the hole in your wallet!

Are there common rooms to socialise?

There is a large, deluxe common room kitted out with state-of-the-art furnishings and plenty of activities so you can sit back and chill with your mates.

Are there laundry facilities?

Your parents aren’t here to do your laundry for you – and nor are we! Luckily, we do provide facilities for you to use with quick and easy step-by-step instructions.

Is there cycle storage?

The residence comes with plenty of secure bike storage, so there’s no excuse not to bring yours and get some exercise.

Is there any outdoor space?

There’s an external courtyard area, so there’s plenty of opportunity to get some quiet time or catch a tan… British weather depending, of course.

Will there be someone to help?

Can I receive post?

Our lovely staff at reception will happily take delivery of parcels and signed-for items – so no need to give up that online shopping addiction!

The residence is protected by fob lock entry and the rooms by either a personal key or fob for complete peace of mind. The safety of students is our priority at Liberty Living. That’s why our residences are monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day. Think of us like your guardian angels.
